YOU CAN FIND ME IN THE MUD
I like to work with clay when it’s quite wet.
Moving quick and loose, pushing the light around, leaving little room for doubt. Each chaotic mark imprints fragments of my unconscious onto a speculative form.
I react with instinct, refine with feeling; the clay becomes my own muddied reflection.
Vincent Monastero was born in Toronto, Canada in 1987, to Canadian-Italian parents, and baptized into the Roman Catholic Church. He graduated from OCAD University with a Bachelor of Design. As an industrial designer he worked independently as well as for private and commercial clients in Canada, the United States, and Italy. Now based in New York, he studies sculpture in the evenings at the New York Studio School and The Arts Student League of New York.
You Can Find Me in the Mud is his first solo presentation.
